I find it amusing that i posted my first observation days ago, and nobody said anything. And then i posted my second one, and it was only after Sterling posted a reply that others felt compelled to chime in as well.

I think it's bullshit that people are considered "rude" for expressing negative opinions about a company's products on a company-run forum. If they aren't prepared to hear back from customers (and potential customers) about their products, both good and bad, then they have no business hanging their ass out there in the first place, unless all they want is adulation and ego-stroking.

I'm a graphic designer and creative director. My work gets critiqued and criticized in public and in private every single day... it's a part of the business and a part of having paying clients. If they're footing the bill, then they have a say. Simple as that.

I could see people getting upset if i just continued the "that top sucks" stupidity, but i shouldn't be slammed for trying to bring informed, intelligent discussion to the table.

This space intentionally left blank.

newfinator will become famous soon enough
Oddly, reading their responses and disrespectful dismissal deters me from buying a JP7 far more than not liking the finish on a limited line. The attitude concerns me.

Darren, you're pissing in the Hive there, aren't you?

There attitude disgusts me for exactly the same reasons you outline, and I don't have any qualms in refusing to buy from them. Even Ibanez has better customer relations than that

Yeah, seems to be quite a shitstorm i've kicked up over there. And Sterling suggesting i "wiki'd" my research to back up my observations?

You know, over the years i've learned to be able to spot people who never really progressed beyond the high school mentality. They're incapable of accepting criticism, defend themselves by undermining others, and generally have a smug and cynical attitude that they're somehow better than everyone else, and no one could POSSIBLY have an informed and intelligent opinion about ANYTHING.

I'm getting a lot of that feeling over there.

And i sense a ban coming.

If You look on the PRS PS quote form You will see that there is a point how well should be bookmatched and should it be staigh or more like V looking matching

I knew I've seen it somewhere over ESP board. Awsome looking piece

You don't think that's a good bookmatch? I think it's pretty damn good. If the grain of the wood is running at a very sharp in relation to where the cut is made, the tiny amount of material that gets removed by the saw and then planed/sanded away in shaping and smoothing the top will always result in the grain not matching up perfectly. Nothing that can be done about that, other than cutting your maple boards open with a frickin' laser beam. Boards with their grain running more perpendicular to the cut will match up a bit better, because the figuring won't "drift" quite as far when cut, planed and sanded.

Deep colour while retaining the 3D effect in the wood is possible. Behold:

Go down swinging Darren!

I'm not sure what my view on all this is. It all greatly depends on if the Bongo 6 is released as a lefty.

If it's released as a lefty with piezo options, then Mr. Ball will become law, and all who oppose will be deemed to not know what the hell they are talking about.
