I don't know why, it's just hit me real hard right now

I've also been GASing for some of the more unusual Strats:

And, thanks to Finger Eleven, I've always wanted the bottom one of these:

If I ever become obscenely rich, I will definitely become a snobby Fender collector, but only the really strange ones, not the "traditional" ones.

I got lucky and managed to get a "Custom Creations" ASAT Classic S, when they made their last run available. My search for a Tele ended once I got this in my hands.

The sunburst version looks really nice also.

I once played an actual 50s Telecaster (it was my friend's dad's, he was letting my friend learn to play on it

) and man, it sounded and felt amazing.

If you're going to make a mahogany bodied, hardtailed, EMG'ed (dual hum, no less) equipped tele.. why even bother getting a tele? Seems like it defeats the purpose of getting a tele to begin with.

Not really, you still get the neck and body shape. It's about the feel and the look too.

I played a '54 Tele in 'Vintage and Rare' in London. It had a refinish, refret and a non-original pickup, but FUCK ME did it play nicely!! £7k, but I would've bought it on the spot, had I the money.

Just wanted to throw in a quip or two.

The Telecaster was my first guitar, and I played my first metal show with it (though I took the white pickguard off to be kvlt). After I got my first seven string the Tele sort of collected dust, but like all cycles, I've really come back to it for my jazz playing. Makes me wish I took better care of it when it was my primary...

Would I get another one? Perhaps not, at least not one with a S/S config. But it's a fine, versatile instrument and I'm not going to be getting rid of it.

A friend of mine has 2 Tele's, a Highway 1 (sunburst, maple fretboard) and a '72 reissue Thinline, both are nice guitars and i've always loved Tele's.
