The best idea Gison has ever had
Well Epiphone/Gibson but any way i found this while browsing the internets.
Les Paul with Floyd I like Les Pauls and if I had $400 I would totally pick one of these up. It looks to be an OFR edit - sorry about the title, I cant spell Last edited by supertruper1988; 11-08-2007 at 10:42 PM. Reason: Cant type |

The white doesn't really do anything for me, but I like the idea. I REALLY need a guitar with a floyd

i might be into it if it was actually a gibson.
Epiphones are not gibsons, Squires are not fenders. LTD's are not ESP's etc etc etc etc |

I had my hopes set on you telling me that they were going to drop their pricing on their hideously overpriced CNC "handmade" guitars. Ah well.

![]() And whatever brand name is printed on or associated with a guitar is solely responsible and accountable for the quality of it. That's the way I see it. I think Gibsons are WAY over priced for what they are. An Epiphone LP will sound almost IDENTICAL to a Gibson when run through the same setup....I've witnessed it. Only difference is the hardware and pickups. I guess I fail to see the need to pay thousands more for shiny shit, a name, and something I plan on replacing anyways. That's like buying a guitarists original axe for 19,000.00 and deciding to play it...if I bought Jimi Hendrix's strat off guitar center it wouldn't be MAGICAL and instantly make me sound a thousand times better....it's still a fucking strat....and a worn out one at that. With guitars...you don't ALWAYS get what you pay for....believe me. |

No... it won't. I've owned an Epiphone Les Paul Studio for 6 years now (it was my second guitar) and a Gibson Les Paul Studio for 4 years now. The difference in sound and playability is like the difference between day and night. The Epiphone feels really really cheap. It sounded really cheap (until I changed the pickup to a Seymour Duncan '59). And, for other differences, the Gibson actually feels about twice as heavy as the Epiphone, even though they are the same model. The sound on the Gibson completely blows away the Epiphone. Before I bought the Gibson, I thought the Epiphone was a decent guitar, but afterwards, even with all the mods I did to the Epiphone, the Gibson was so much better than I have a really really really low opinion of Epiphone now. In my bands in the US before I had a 7-string, I used my Gibson as my main guitar and my Epiphone as my back-up (in case I broke a string on my Gibson and didn't have any strings to replace it with) and so I was using the EXACT same rig, but they sounded vastly different. Ask TDW on this forum. I used that setup when I was in a band with him and he oftentimes would comment on how completely different the two guitars sound. He would sometimes say, "You know? That doesn't really sound too bad for being an Epiphone." And, while he had never been a Gibson fan before playing in a band before, he ended up loving my guitar and just loving the way it sounded. He played in his FCGCFAD tuning and me in EADGBE standard and he once said, "That sounds totally kickass. I guess that really shows you can play super heavy stuff in standard." ![]() I agree with your posts about Jimi Hendrix's Fender strat or Jimmy Page's Gibson Les Paul not being the unbelievably amazing things they are put out to be. But those are collectables more than actual instruments to be played or used. Parts of "rock history," I guess you could say. But where do you get the "thousands more" comment? The most expensive stock Fender I've ever seen had a list price of around $2800 or so and the most expensive stock Gibson I've ever seen had a list price of around $3000. There are some people who just bash Gibson and Fender all the time for no good reason. Overpriced? Sure, if you buy things at list price, but who does that? I bought my Gibson Les Paul Studio NEW for $900, which is cheaper than my Ibanez RG1527 cost me and only $50 more than my Ibanez RG7EXFX2 cost me. Where I used to live, different shops would have drastically different prices, one shop actually carrying my exact same guitar for $2200 which was the list price itself (if I remember correctly). I thought they were insane because a music shop 10 minutes away had the same guitar for around $1400. And I obviously got mine for $900. Conditionwise? They were all new with no scratches, damage, or anything. ![]() So, no, an Epiphone version of the same model of a Gibson is not going to sound anywhere near the same through the same rig. |
