![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | All depends on the size of the package, the weight and who you pick as a carrier. Most carriers will have a page set up to get at least a rough quote. As for the taxes, if it's under $50 they will usually let it go without any. Over that it will be a total of 14% (8% PST & 6% GST). Duties depend on the country of origin for the goods. If it's manufactured in NA then there usually are not any duties but you still pay the taxes as above. If it's manufactured off-shore it all depends on the goods. You can find the answers to almost any question with a little perseverance here. From experience it's the customs brokerage fees that can make or break you. UPS likes to asses a random $50 (minimum) fee at times. They will hold the package for ransom until you give it up. If you refuse to pay it they return it to sender and demand the brokerage fee AND return shipping. If the sender doesn't pay it they deem the package as "abandoned" and keep it. ![]() USPS is one of the best ways I know of to get things into Canada. They (used too anyway) charge only $5 for brokerage. Whatever carrier you choose you should find out if they will allow you to broker your own shipment. The "importer" (ie; the recipient) needs to do this if you go this way. Not all carriers will let you broker your own shipments (see UPS! ). As far as Canada Customs is concerned though they don't care who brokers it. Brokering just means someone takes responsibility for the goods entering the country and fills out the applicable paper work. The paperwork is minimal. You usually just have to tell them value and country of origin (maybe intended use, I can't recall). It might be worth $5 but it sure as hell isn't worth the $50 that UPS (may or may not) charges. You might have picked up that I'm not a fan of UPS. I actually refuse to import anything with them anymore. If the seller won't use another carrier, I don't buy it. On a side note, I've heard that there were recently changes to the USPS methods/policies so they might have jumped on the "bend over and take it" band-wagon too. ![]() Good luck. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Look at it this way: - Last guitar i got was 650$ U.S. - Paid 180$ CAN.for customs and taxes (taxes beeing 14.5 % of the guitar price). About 80$ for Custom itself. The shipping itself cost me 50$ U.S. - Guitar was coming from around Boston, to Montreal. The longer the travel, the higher the price though it doesn't increase that much. Become one of us or die, fuckers. / Rick - RHLC V-P. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | If you have a fedex ground account and can print your labels you can ship Ground to canada. I send a small fender tube amp to montreal from sacramento for $75 if I remember right. |
