J-Custom JCRG-1S NT - Opinions needed
I have a chance to buy a J-Custom JCRG-1S NT
It looks really good and the shape and condition of the axe is very good too. Is that model recommendable? I have been looking for a neckthrough for quite some time. Wanted the RGT220H SOL, but that one is discontinued and after all I guess the J-Custom should be a lot better?

If you are deciding between the RGT220 and the JCRG1... there's no contest. I've played the RGT220 and a JCRG21 (similar model... almost the same specs in fact) and although the RGT220 is an awesome guitar, The JC is just in a league of its own.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat. I haven't played one, but man, it's pretty.

you're throwing in an active and a passive in the same guitar?
also, i hope you don't mind having to route the pickup cavity, because i don't think an EMG is going to fit.

And routing... I haven't experienced that in any of the other 3 guitars in which I have installed an EMG (RG550, RG1570, JEM555). I had problem on a Ibanez RG1527 7 string though... that one has to be routed to throw in a EMG81-7. |

would you mind explaining how you wire an active and passive in the same guitar?

Well yes... but when I said I did it, I should have said a friend of mine... I didn't do it myself... I have only installed a set of EMG81/85 in one of my axes :-) So I am not sure how it's done... but it's definetely doable!

EMG's website explains how to wire actives and passives together but I forgot. >.> Anyway, the J Custom will probably be tonnes better but I have to say the 5pc neckthru on the 220H looked quite a bit better than this straight maple, but no worries eh.

So I guess it's back to trying to get ahold of a 220H in stead. Anyone know where to find this one? Ibanez do not produce them anymore and I am not too happy with the color of the 220A and the fact that it's ash tree.

Agreed, unless you need something NAO.
Anyway, try local music stores. For god knows why, there are SWEET RGT prestiges from 04-07 hanging at our music store yet no one buys them! There's this RGT220H with the darkest, most beautiful mahogany ever, almost looks like zebrawood yet no one's bought it. Some even have offset dot inlays... i love offset dot inlays.
