well like i said im not saying its going to play or sound good but personally i hated the feel of 4 wound strings.

if i were going to tune to B on a 6 string again id probably invest in a baritone

yeah, there are still times when i use the Daddario Reg light/wound third sets for Drop D.... its 10-46 (10 13 18 26 36 46) and the 18 is wound. i love wound thirds most because they add a little more bass to your tone, and not to mention, sound better with distortion and palm muted, plain steels sound short and choppy palm muted...

but i also use the 105-48 more often than the other, and i WISH that one had a wound third...

Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL

I also like wound 3rd string because it's much better with distortion, but the feel is personal preference, someone likes, someone not When i played 6 string tune to B I was using 14-68 set from D'Addario and changed also the second stainless to wound.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

I tune to B standard with Elixir 10-52s and love it. The top strings get so slinky that, palm muted, they get a nice little bark to them. The B isn't even that loose with a 52. I will take the low string down to Ab every now and again and it still sounds good, but only the Elixirs seem to deal with downtuning this well with these gauges

twiztedchild is a jewel in the rough
i did this with a gsa60 and i used a set of slinky tops heavy bottoms, and they worked fine, stayed in tune and everything, till i sold the guitar, thats my choice for this

another thing to think about possibly, is that in standard tuning, your D is a wound string. to get that same tone of that note, a wound string would make sense - it's just where your G should be.

3 cheers for free gear!
