![]() | FIXED BRIDGE MADNESS!!! so, i'm sick of the high action on my cheap rg and am switching out the lame trem and sticking on a fixed bridge. i can stick it on so that the scale length is the same, but heres my question: if i stuck the bridge on farther back near the strap pin, other than increasing the scale lengths, what would be the effect and is this generally a feasible idea or should i just trash my old beater and spend 800 on something with a baritone neck? |

It won't work and there is no way to make it work without a new neck. OTOH, a new neck can be created that doesn't need the bridge to be moved. ![]() |

Stratocaster® Replacement Neck As an aside, I'm loving this, wish I could get it: Bari 7 with Jet Black Ebony Board So, how exactly do you go from a trem to fixed bridge? I'm assuming you fill in all that space, yes? And yeah, unless it was only very slightly further back, it would mess with the intonation. A far easier (and cheaper) way to fix your tremolo woes would be to get a Tremol-No. Just lock the trem down where the action is good, and bam, it's a hard tail. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ^^^^ very true, because with a trem you have 2 advantages: 1: First you adjust the trem for the right ANGLE at which you want the trem tilted (i prefer my saddles on my lopro to sit perfectly parallel with the body) 2: Now you adjust the actual height of the trem, and it keeps your desired angle. reason why im so picky with my trem angle is that changing the intonation point slighty makes a world of difference when it comes to the tone of my palm muted notes. well, at least i noticed the difference, but again this is coming from the guy who also feels a tension difference between an Ibanez S and an Ibanez RG. Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL |
