How would one go about finishing a guitar like this one?

Hmmm well just in case you didn't know already that's the actual wood grain. I guess you could use paints to reach that effect, but most likely won't look as good IMHO. Browns and reds mixed would give you those colors.

Top wood is cocobolo I believe. I could be wrong. And looks like it has oil finish of some kind.

I am in AWE : I just look at the picture, and then your simple answer question and it does not compute! Are you kidding?!?!?! What refinish do you desire? a re oiling? a good rubdown? a fret dress? new fretting? You might consider investing in an enviormentally sealed and controlled glass case especialy if it never sees real playing. I would record everything I could with that guitar just to have a record of the sound that it once produced and keep the info logged for hundreds maybe thousands of years in a timecapsule buried in the great center of music hall of ages so that the sounds could be enjoyed and remembered for the great craftsmanship that is STUNNINGLY DISPLAYED WHILST SCREAMING MUSICAL GLORY IN DIRECT DISPROPORTION TO THE NULLIFYING QUESTION THAT IS: Refinish? Anyone? Anyone? But LOW behold! Being the expert that I so so sooo distgustingly am I am SAM! You have a beautiful guitar and I dont know what I am talking about good day....so damn beautiful....
