My dilemma...

Basically my last major guitar purchase was an Alexi-600 I'm getting rid of which will in turn fund my high-end guitar merry shreddy christmas fund. The only two guitars that have been really interesting me are EBMM JP6's and Ibanez UV777BK's. If I got the EBMM I'd end up getting dot inlays, matching headstock, mystic dream finish, no piezo (do piezos really make that much of a difference other than price? I can't see myself using them much). If I got the UV I'd keep it stock and after it got a little worn in (read: effed up) I'd probably start to customize it, swap pickguards, etc. I couldn't do much to a specially finished JP guitar.

The big dilemma for me is the different styles of necks. Playing 7's isn't an issue, it's the fact that Ibanez has those sleek, flat necks and EBMM has those sort of chunkier, rounder ones. I'm not sure if I'd get sick of that EBMM style. For comparison, my main axe is a Jackson Soloist, so yeah.

Thoughts on EBMM JP6 guitars or my constant buying anxiety? Anyone want an ESP LTD Alexi-600 guitar?

Small addition, the reason this is an issue is because I have some major stuff to fund soon (Euro vacation, college, other crap) so basically this will be my last big guitar purchase for a while. I play a pretty wide range of stuff from country/bluegrass to rock and best of all, metal. The band I'm in now is a progressive rock/metal band (i.e. we cover Rush, Coheed, Dream Theater and randomly go into complex jams ) so I'd get plenty of use out of either. Right now I'm leaning towards the UV cause they're so damn sexy and I think it will last the long haul, not to mention I'd feel bad not babying that JP with such a kickin' rad finish.

Why not get a custom? Ran could probably build you a alexi-600-7string.

That would kick ass!

...But get thte UV7

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.

Sorry, in the US. I'm hoping it can go to someone on here rather than random bidder #7 on ebay, I really think this is the best music community I've come by and I'd love to see another ss.org member getting more use out of it than I did.

Also, does it say something that people are telling me to get the UV even on the standard guitar board?

It's still ss.org, obviously most people here like 7's over 6's.

Play what feels right to you, noone can really tell you what would be good for you, you'l just have to decide that yourself.

that is a dilemma.

if the soloist is your main axe, get the EB. baby it enough to keep the finish pretty :P. that way you have some variation in the guitars you use, instead of 2 superstrats with FR's and skinny necks, y'know?

3 cheers for free gear!
