![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Nashville swirl project ( biggin' ) I've decided to dip into the pool of swirling. Luckily my work allows me complete artist freedom and hundreds of guitars to experiment on. I will start off with showing you what didn't work. I needed to test the extremes on prep work. These poor bastards here were done in a hastefull manner, light scuffing on factory clear and no scuffing. The results were shitty to say the least. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now I know what not to do. This headstock however came out pretty good this told me that I was on the right path and gave me the confidence to move on. Tell you what the days I spent trying to get the paint right, timing the paint on the surface was maddening to say the least. I refused to give up though. Oh yes I got pissed and walked away shaking my head a few times. I'll have to post pic of my work area,,, I had at least 20 balloons, countless paint containers, screw drivers, paint brush handles, tape despenser,,,,all swirled! I was running out of shit to dip Anyway.... heres the head stock,,,sorry the pic isn't better.![]() So with that success I moved on to a full body again. Here's were you minds will get blown. I went to the "guitarbage" wall ( guitars deemed junk, or to cheap to be cost affective for repairs needed ) I stripped down an Ibanez Gio, gave it a base coat of black and dipped it with no real expectations. The pics here are the guitar after clear coat,,, I didn't have a camera with me on this day because I really didn't plan on starting this project. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I didn't expect this 219 dollar guitar to come out so nice. My boss saw it and said lets make this one work,,, I want to take this to the trade show in Florida. Your shittin' me? I had to do something better, something a little more well,,,,better quality. I grabbed a BCR Warlock Deluxe and well this one is going to the show as well.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Came out very nice. Unfortunately I didn't get a finished pic of with all the hardware on it,,, I literally finished it and they packed it up and sent it on Fedex within 30 minutes. I will try to get them to take a picture of it at the show. Remember the Iby Gio? Here it is I hope some little dude gets it,,, can you imagine having a beginner guitar with a swirl? I think I can honestly say this is the only Ibanez Gio in the world with a swirl paint job.![]() ![]() Fin. ~A Come sopra, dunque di sotto. Fare che lei farą, e nuoce nessuno. |

![]() ![]() | They look like slabs of rock, which is really cool IMHO ![]() I'm assuming he's going to want to mass produce these rack pies, and why not? I love racks, I love pies, so put them together and you have pie covered titties. - JJ Don't thank me, thank the wombat rapist. - Jamie Mah Deviantart Myspace The Many Faces of Egoraptor |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Some really cool colour schemes going on there. Nice to see some different ones for a change. And I actually really like some of the swirl patterns in those. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks everyone! It felt really good to finally nail a swirl. The next Iby' 7 that comes through my shop that has the mojo is going to be treated to sweet ass swirl job! Oh yes, it will be mine. I would trade my 6 non universe 7's for a sweet MC,,,but I don't ever see that happening therefor the next sweetest thing is to just do your own. ~A |
