Does having big holes like that in the body gives it a special tone?

You know, I'm not sure. I would have to think it would detract from the tone, but this thing screams! It has an oddly high quality feel to it. Believe it or not. This thing shreds!

I need cash though, so I'm just trying to make sure I don't get burned when I offload it. Hence the research.

I'll ask one of the guitar tech's at my work. He's really into these things. I'm sure he used to own it or something very like it.

Continuing the obscure guitar theme, who remembers the Fender Katana. That was a guitar worth owning.

Thanks!
I did some research and couldn't find any current prices for one of these online. I'd say maybe give Guild Guitars a call and ask what these things sold for new back in the day. That may give you a starting point. While you're on the phone, maybe talk them up a little and ask what they think it'd go for today.

Last resort, you could always put it up on Ebay, and in the last day of the auction if it's not selling for the $ you expect, just end the auction. It's not the "nice guy" thing to do, but hey, it'd give you an idea.
