![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | You ever get tired of that pesky middle pup that you never use gettin in the way of your picking? well so did i so heres what ended up happening. First i uninstalled the pup, installed my two EMGs (81 and 60), and then i took the foam off the bottom of the single coil, unscrewed the pole pieces all the way out, and then took off the glued magnet bars on the bottom. End result: A MIDDLE PUP FLUSH TO THE BODY WITHOUT CRUSHING YOUR NECK PUP CABLE!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ANy questions? lol. sorry, late night ranting, thought itd be worth sharing Looking for an Ibanez RG970XL |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | well, i agree with you eric, i do love that single coil sound, but not enough to pay ANOTHER hundred bucks for a single coil active to run with my other two EMGs, so i did this. Plus, live, i only use the neck pup for solos, so i mostly just a bridge pup guy.... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ah, yeah, that's cool. I just screwed mine down as far as I could. Probably tore up some wiring. That's how much it's in my way! I should just take the damn thing out. My main guitar has no middle pickup and the bridge sits slightly off the body. It facilitates expressive picking so much better. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The middle pickup doesn't bother me at all, and I like the sound of the neck and middle pickups together. That gets me some nice cleans. Now I lay me down to sleep Blah, blah, blah my soul to keep If I die before I wake I'll go to hell for heaven's sake |

I mean, you gotta pick real deep for that pu to bug you. Never had that problem with my 3-hums guitars too. Of course, it's lower than the neck + bridge pu's but i don't need it flush with the body. | |
