Any bad expireneces with set-neck guitars?

I never owned any set-neck guitars, but I like that they are cheaper then neck-throus but they have sustian and they have good fret access, but when I here that they are "just" glued to the body, I feel they must be weaker then bolt-ons or neck-throus, I imagine that I hit the neck against the wall and it just fall down.

So, who owns any set-neck guitars? Are they strong after many years? Can I trust in them? Any horror storys about them?

Thanks

THe glue that holds the neck to the body is generally stronger than the wood. sometimes the necks come loose, but only if you tour for years and years.

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Well, neck throughs have the wings glued onto the neck, so it's the same issue there. But like Ken said, the glue is supposedly stronger than the wood surrounding the joint. I have a set neck guitar and it seems sturdy enough to me. Not to mention people have been using Les Pauls for years, and they're all set neck.

Well, the tension isnt on the wood thats glued on neckthroughs. all the tension is on one piece of wood(the neck) and the wings are just there to make that neck slat wider, add mass, etc.

I've got two set-neck models (a Les Paul and a Dean) and haven't ever had any trouble with them. Never tried a through-neck, so I can't comment on those.

Could you tell me how old is your LP and the Dean?

The Les Paul's from 96. Not sure about the Dean, but it was brought new about six or seven years ago.

I just watched a few vids of Pete Townsend demoing a Les Paul and the guitar usually snaps in the middle of the neck and the body before i see the neck joint give out.
