I've had it with 3-pc Ibanez necks....

Went to get my SC420 (3pc, scarf joint) set up, and my buddy calls me to tell me that the reason it's buzzing is because there's a non-repairable hump where the scarf joint is.

New replacement neck (according to Ibanez's parts site) $369.

This sucks. Nice crap workmanship on a $750 guitar.

Other guitars stored the same exact way, same maintenance intervals, are all fine.

So I think I might give Chris Woods a shout, to see how long he thinks CNC programming to replicate this neck with better construction is.

I've never had any problems with any of my Ibanez necks.

I'm sure all other manufacturers have some problems too.

Edit: an example - my Jackson's fretboard started ungluing all by itself.

Now I lay me down to sleep
Blah, blah, blah my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I'll go to hell for heaven's sake

Pull the frets.

Plane the fretboard flat.

Re-fret.

Fixed.

Probably cheaper to buy a new neck bro.... I had an early 90's RG that did somthing simmilar, but I also had my gibson les paul studio lite do that. I played the guitar the night before fine, came in the next day, buzz! Take a look, the neck has a severe twist in it. Take it to the shop, the guy tells me that its unrepairable and the only way to fix it is steam the neck off and get a replacement from Gibson.. Needless to say the parts ant labor exceede the cost of the guitar so it never got repaired.

It's a rare neck, because it's 25.1" scale. Only made it on the SC/SCA/SCR series.

I love the guitar too, so I don't want to just chuck it.

Third one I've had with this problem, which is why I no longer buy Ibanez guitars on eBay anymore.

This particular one was a gift from my parents back in '97, and I'd prefer not to part it out and sell it.

Yea I asked about that.. I bought it used, unfourtunatley the warranty is not tranferable (like a freaking KIA). only the original owner can make a warrany claim.. Which leads me to say fill out your warranty cards and send them off when you buy a new guitar. It could come in handy.

SZ too, but non-interchangeable of course, since they're set-neck.
