PRS Mushok modification: Need your help!
Hey dudes,
I want to modify my PRS Mushok with new bridge, locking tuners and pickups. I am pretty sure I would take another set of Blackdog+VHII as I have them in another guitar and should be really good for baritones as I understood. Feel free to suggest another pickups The bigger issue is the bridge and locking tuners. I want them to be direct fit and the tuners to be able to fit the be gauges (let's say at least up to 68-70). I was thinking about hipshot fixed bridge and schaller/sprezel locking tuners. would they fit my needs? Thanks!

Guitar Bridges for the bridge, its not Hipshot. I have used them before.
The Sperzels (3/3) are a direct fit |

I think OP was stating that he wants to REPLACE the original bridge with a hipshot... As a matter of fact, I think he was BLATANTLY stating that

Dimarzio Dominions for the pickups. They sound ferocious with the lower tuning and extended range. I have a set in my MMM 1 and cannot recommend them enough.

Schaller tuners will be a direct swap. Sperzels will require drilling and will also leave the old pilot screw holes exposed.

I believe the Hipshot bridge should fit, but it might be worth shooting PRS customer support an email.

For pickups try an SD alt 8 in the bridge and a SD Jazz in the neck. Great for downtuning

Got the same guitar, just about to warm the soldering iron on a new 5 way switch on it to get the Ibanez style switching i want from it.
Tuners, id stay away from Sperzels and Groovers, i went with Schaller M6 locking as they dont require to have more holes in it than it already has. All PRS SEs are directly matched for Schallers BTW. However with Sperzels, you may have to modify Sperzels to accept anything larger than a 58 string. A drill, clamp and some care with heap of time will cure this. Ive kept the stock bridge, buy want to upgrade the saddled to GraphTech ones if i can. As for pickups, im going with a Di Marzio Air Norton for clarity and bite with a 36th Anniversary Bridge in the neck for a little Burstbucker #2 style sounds in the neck. |
