Facelift- ESP M-II

Well as the saying goes "Once you go black you don't go back". This guitar started off black went white and now is now back in black(with a new vibe).

He she was stock:

I just didn't do a good job with the orange, and it didn't scream metal for me. So I took out the trusty heat gun and stripped it.

Had a fair amount of bright Orange so decided to make good use of that.

I've always had a little crush on the old 80s crackle finish guitars. I didn't mimic it completely but went down the same path. I went out got some Elmer's wood glue spread it on the body waited a few minutes then took a brush and painted some black paint onto the body and here is how it turned out.

Turned out pretty cool. It looks like the guitar is about to burst.

Awesome!

That's way better than any crackle finish.

Yea I used latex paint. It didn't really crackle so much and stretch and rip in parts.
Is that your guitar? What make is it? That's sexy if you tell me.

Not my guitar, although I would LOVE one - they're super, super rare.

It's a Washburn EC29 from the late 80s, they didn't make many... this one had 29 frets, but there was also an EC36 model... I'll leave you to guess how many frets that one had!

They never caught on, but I wish they had so I could ....ing find one and buy it Horrible finishes though, not going to lie. I would likely want to refinish it if I ever found one. It does, however, have quite the best neck joint of any guitar I have ever seen:

That really is a work of art, there's no heel there at all, you really can get right up there to the 29th. It's like a thru-neck version of that lovely bolt-on neck joint they use on the Nuno Bettencourt models. Great guitars. If I ever have the money, I might commission Ran or someone to make me a copy of one, but with a fixed bridge instead of a trem.

This is the EC36 I was on about, btw - truly ridiculous, but awesome. And with an even worse finish than the 29, if you can even imagine such a thing.
