Well I came across a deal the other day that I decided I wanted to try out and the guitar showed up last night right as I was leaving for work
![]() Onto the few crappy cell phone pictures. It's kind of a mind .... because it either looks a very pretty, sparkly red or it looks almost black depending on the light ![]() ![]() ![]() It's a Sterling Music Man JP50 that had a Crunchlab already installed. Honestly, build quality seems pretty good. Neck feels great and locking turners seem to be decent quality. Trem seems pretty stable also, did some stupid dives bombs and pulled up on the bar everywhere for like 15 minutes and it stayed in tune perfectly. Only thing I might do is order real JP dome knobs and possibly put a Graph Tech nut on it I'm not British, but cheers!

Just noticed that this gutar has a trem, but doesn't have a locking nut! I'm interested to know how that'll stay in tune without being massively infuriating... XD

Just a little update. I got a graphite nut cut for it, blocked the trem (even though it's great! I just change tunings too much) and got it set up after being shipped across the country. Plays like buttaaa and sounds even better now

F-me.....thanks a lot.
Now I am totally gassing for one of these Sterling guitars....Ive always wanted a JP, but always a bit out of my price range. I had no idea they made a lower priced model for the body style. |

I have a music man axis. I played those sterling ax40's... and Im kinda pissed at how close it was. It wasnt as good of course, but for 1/4th the cost, it seemed about 4/5'ths the guitar...
I cant compare it to a JP, but over all I was impressed at the quality of them. |

I haven't had a chance to play a real one unfortunately, but I can honestly say that it plays fantastic with the new nut and setup. I've found myself playing this a lot more than my more expensive Ibanez S series
![]() Yep, pretty good quality too. Haven't had a issue with tuning and they seem to have a pretty good gear ratio, makes fine tuning easier |
