Fanned frets,super-singlecut ergonomic guitar, finally finished :)
Hi! The sixstring I've been working on is finally finished!
Pics first! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Noth that the cover for the electronics cavity isn't fastened yet, so it sticks out a bit Specs are: maple and padouk throu-neck trapezoid neck shape limba (=korina) bodywings fanned frets board, 25-25.5", padouk wilkinson bridge saddles on a aluminium baseplate carbon fiber reinforcements in the neck carbon fiber trussrod that I made, oh yeah ![]() Two humbuckers (mini humbucker in the neck), three way toggle + three way miniswitch for each pu, volume knob weight is 3.0 kilos I went for a rough, scratchy finish, and threated the wood with a hot air gun so the surface is burnt. Then I applied some oil, and after that black wax. Then I sanded it super smooth up to 1000 grit sandpaper. It feels like a handrail that had been used for tens of years by many people, like in a museum. For those who are intrested in the making of: Guitar building project ![]() |

Hey, it's missing a string or two!
![]() I love the finish. "It feels like a handrail that had been used for tens of years by many people, like in a museum."![]() Nice work. I added the "member built" tag. Don't for get to post over here: Guitars built by members of SS.org [Pic-heavy] Ray The Ultimate Question: What string gauge is needed for 18.84# of tension when tuned to E2 on a 27" scale guitar?

I like the antique feel all your builds have. This is why I asked you to build me one.

I know what you mean though, you get used to seeing drastically fanned 8 strings and the subtlety of this can be kind of lost on the eye. Does it make a big difference in terms of the treble side? |

That thing is so gorgeous. The shape is new and ergonomic, but pleasing to the eye
Grade A job on the finish. So many relic/worn finish jobs look too overdone and glossy and expensive. Yours is PERFECT HNGD!!!!! Maybe it's a promotional gag, you stay the weekend, get a jar of blood |

I love that finish. Looks like Ritter's Damaged Desktop finish: Ritter Damaged Desktop Finish
Looks like it was table or something for a bunch of years and was subjected to regular use, very cool compared to your traditional relics. Great job. Love the elegant shape. |

I like it! very tasteful, and seems like a real workhorse to me. I love workhorse guitars!
And considering it's already distressed, you aren't afraid to use it, which is a good thing! i hate it when the prettyness and "freshness" of an instrument makes me feel like i shouldn't be touching it

The wood is lovely. The shape is a little out of my comfort zone, but I can appreciate it. Keep in mind that I own nothing but superstrats though haha.
