Jackson Fusion Pro Trade?

So I have a PRS SE Custom 24 I'm trading and 1 of the offers is a Jackson Fusion Pro 1992 model.

I was just wondering if they were good guitars and if it was worth a trade. He's also throwing some mini amp in but that's just extra.

If it's in good shape, it's a better built guitar than a PRS SE.

The MIJ Pro models are awesome, I had one in my teens and t'was brill! I'd do it in a heartbeat. Are you sure it's a Fusion Pro, though? Looks more like a STD to me with the offset dots rather than sharkfins and what looks to be a rosewood rather than ebony board in the pic? But I'm no Jackson expert.

It looks like a Fusion EX. One of the cheaper Fusions, but the Jackson Professionals of that era are of much higher quality than comparable guitars being put out today.

The Fusion Pros are fantastic instruments but that is actually a Fusion Ex, I'd still go for the trade though personally.
Some Specs:
Basswood Body
Maple Neck
Rosewood Fretboard
24.75 Scale
24 Frets
JT-580 Tremolo
J-75 Bridge Humbucker J-110 Middle And Neck Single Coils

Extreme Syncopation =/= Poly-rhythmic

Good call. The EX has a scratchplate and no bevel on the lower horn, dunno how I missed that, d'oh

Remember that Fusions are 24 3/4 scale (at least that is what I remember). It is a Jackson professional series, and all non-American Jacksons were professional series back then. However the ones that were really great were the ones with the ebony fret boards.

I would say go for it only if you like playing it, not because you think you are getting a good deal.

Not a good deal. That's a Fusion EX which was one of the lower end Professionals. They were good guitars, but are worth no more than $250-$300 in excellent condition.

True, but if you really dig the Jackson, get him to throw in $100 or so.

Thanks everyone for the input!

So far it doesn't seem like a good deal to me and I probably won't do it simple enough.

Got an offer for an Ibanez S series 7 string though

Subjective post is subjective

Facts are the Jacson was built in a Japanese factory that has a VERY good reputation. The PRS SEs also have a good reputation but I personnally bave played more PRS SEs that were "meh" than I have Japanese Jacksons that were "meh". Given a choice I'd automatically buy a 2nd hand Jackson Professional over a 2nd hand PRS SE at the same price point. Everything that's been said so far about Jacksons from that era being better built and value than the guitars of today is very true.

For clarification on my own subjectivitiy, I currently own 2 Jap Jacksons and one Jap Charvel. Over the years I have owned 7 Japanese Jackson / Charvels and no PRS SEs.

The Jackson Charvel Guitars | Catalogue Scans | Gallery | Serial | History | Japan has a good history of the Japanese Jackson/Charvel factory and is well worth reading.

Hey look out! It's an opinion! WTF?!?

Sorry if it feels like I'm picking on you but define "lower end" Jackson then please. The Fusion EX retailed at $695 in 1992, even taking in account inflation and improvements in guitar manufacture, price point says that this Jackson was probably made to a higher standard todays PRS SE C24.

Ive had my Fusion SX for 19yrs. It's been through hell & not let me down once, amazing guitar.
I the last 5 yrs my Jackson collection has started to grow, now the only issue I have with the Fusion is the short scale, it's enough for me to leave it on the rack & hardly play it, but that's not the guitars fault, that's mine.
It's a killer axe full of quality.............it has to be, it's a Jackson.

The bloodline is strong in this one
