Repainting a RG1XXV

I'm considering getting a RG1XXV, but...

It's really, really ugly. So, does anyone have suggestions on how I could repaint it to make it look decent even with the yellow inlays? Hardware and pickup colors can be modified relatively painlessly, but it all has to match the yellow inlays.

Suggestions so far:

Rejected:
Flat black
Camo
Green
Electric blue/red

Possible:
Black w/yellow-centric art
Burnt orange

Paint it a color that's complimentary to yellow, like blue or, if all else fails, black/white.

Why not just get a guitar you like? Painting a brand new guitar is retarded IMO.

Yeah, what the hell? There are plenty of guitars with specs identical if you don't like yellow.

I agree with everyone else. The reason I'd want an RG25th is because of the "crappy" pink and yellow finish.

You could always get an RG body and see if you can get a custom RG neck made with yellow Ibby sharktooth inlays, or get an entirely new or used RG Premium/Used Prestige and get yellow sharktooth vinyl inlays.

Then what guitars are there with identical specs?

The main reason I'd want this one is because of just how well it plays and sounds.

Any other 6-string RG920(QM) if the middle pickup doesn't matter. If you need the middle pickup, look for old used RG550's.

Nope, not on drugs. I've just never liked that color. Besides which...

Most of the RGs I'm finding are either ugly or boring. The ones I've found that fit the specs only come in black and a fluorescent color of your choosing.

I like the Wizard Premium neck. I like the Edge Zero II tremolo. I like the HSH configuration, and I absolutely love how it plays (even the spacing on the tremolo perfectly matches my fingers.)

This is the first time I've actually liked a bolt on neck, too. Everything about this guitar just feels right. I just can't stand the color.

Anyone ever see that review on Harmony Central of a Washburn N4 by a guy who was happy at how much he'd improved the look of the guitar (it didn't even affect playability!) by sawing the headstock off?

Holy crap, thanks for the list of specific guitars. Actually pretty damn helpful.

MF has RG870Z - Ibanez Wiki for $750, which would save me 150ish, and if it came with a case as well that'd be grand. All of the specs are the same, save the pickups.

Alas...I'd repaint this one too. RG870QMZ looks promising, but it was never released in the US. RG920QMZ also looks good, but lacks the HSH config >.<

Why must everything Ibanez be so incredibly confusing?

Features: 5 Stars!
mine was made in 1994 in the usa i think...has a bill lawrence L500 bridge pick-up and a duncan 59 neck pick-up. 22 frets, floyd rose bridge. blah, blah, blah. its a guitar...how many features can you ask for? mine does not have the cut-away thou...donno why, washburn says its an N4E and retails for $1599 so i donno

Action, Fit, & Finish: 5 Stars!
finish was very nice...but not the way i want it so i just put 300 stickers on it. it had no flaws at all and is still flawless

Sound Quality: 5 Stars!
i have slightly modified mine...i cut the head off!! because of the locking keys at the top of the neck i was able to do this. now after doing that it is lighter, looks alot better (head is very ugly) and still never, ever, ever goes out of tune. i tune it once ever 2 months!! i use it for heavily distorted punk music and it sounds amazing. clear and loud. i love "woody" (its name) and must give it a 10. i'm saving up for a better amp but i have played through a mesa/boogie nomad 100 head & 4x12 cabinet, a crate GFX-212 (piece of shit), a marshall VS65R (Piece of shit) and a few others...this guitar always sounds good. i have gotten so many complements on this sound and guitar

Overall Rating: 5 Stars!
I have been playing for 4 years now and i have gotten to the point now where i would actually need a gutiar like this one. i bought it after working all summer at 13 years old. i learned on a bc rich but got this after 2 months. i wish it had a bettter looking head so i did'nt have to cut it off!! i am able to play anything from shit like greenday "time of your life" to good riddance and even pop-punk like blink 182. to me this guitar is best for fast playing and octaves. e-mail me if you got any questions or can tell me why mine does'nt have th cut-away...thanks

Look for a used prestige rg1570. Better neck, better guitar. If you need a pickguard, the prestige rg2550 or rg3550,

I'd hate to restring it.

Any other recommendations for something to take the place of a rg1xxv?

My current solution is Ibanez RG870Z Premium Electric Guitar: Shop Guitars & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend
And to repaint it.
