Things like the neck angle and carving a volute, where there isn't really any template/jig to make for it, IMO that would probably be the difficult parts. I'm sure a luthier will come in here and set us straight though For instance, I know how to calculate a neck angle, it's the implementing of it that scares me, on a neck through anyways. Carving a top would be another difficult task for new builders too I imagine. I would really like a carved top on the guitar I build, but I imagine something like that might be saved for a 2nd, or 3rd guitar.
Oh yeah definately, but I was talking from a pre-made neck standpoint.. I dont think I would EVER attempt to build a neck by myself, with the fretting and all that stuff.. That would just be way out of my league to even consider.. Even though the PG tutorial on fretboard replacement interests me, I still dont think I would attempt messing with the neck. If I did buy a premade neck-thru, after that I consider getting the scale length probably one of the hardest parts, because really all you have to do is glue your wings on, route the cavities and finishing.

I knew a guy in Freddy named Adam (forget his last name) but he was a luthier there for awhile, he was going to help me on a body with a Carvin neck blank, but suddenly he dissapeared from MSN and only comes on like once every month now =[ He woulda been a big help, wish he came on more often, esp because I could go down there and work on the guitar with him sometime

Well, I figure if I'm going to build, might as well build it all. I just wish someone would buy my guitar so I could get on with it I've been saying I'm gonna build forever.
