![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I played the BC Rich Mockingbird Special today at guitar center, the ebony fretboard looked awesome and was really shiny. Anyway, the pickups are kinda low output for my liking, but I've got the livewire metal so yeah. Anyway, it sounded pretty nice running through the Vox Valvetronix 100 half-stack and played really well. Still has that mockingbird "poke" at the top that all of 'em have. Not really sure if it's worth 700 dollars, but it was pretty awesome and looked fucking awesome. They also had a Schecter "Raider" which had the Duncan Designed actives...they RULE, total ownage. I was playing it through the 6505+ they had there and it was just this total onslaught. I can definitely tell the bridge is like the 81, which is a good thing. Not such a huge sound difference as an 81 and 85 and that's a good thing imo. The guitar itself played kinda poorly above the 12th fret but it was great up until there. It was listed as 400 but I think it's a good 350 dollar axe. Oh yeah...it has the skull & crossbones like the Jolly Roger but has X inlays up to the 12th and then I inlays above that. It looks pretty cool, actually. If I had my camera I would've taken some pics of it. I also played the Ibanez RGT6EX or whatever, it has the 81b 85n combo and was pretty good, the 85 in the neck is definitely way too bassy but playing in the bridge position was pretty good. It was a nice axe and kinda weird because of the painted neck, I was like "what brand is this" after playing a while and forgetting what it was. The offset dots are actually pretty nice too, I no longer hate them haha. Gibson Swamp Ash LP: pretty awesome, the fretboard had fucking sharp as hell edges and the finish is definitely raw...you can feel the woodgrain through it, but it was pretty cool. I love ash so it would be pretty hard for me to NOT like this thing, haha. Pickups in it were pretty high output. |
