G&L Guitars

I use to be all all "anti-strat" and stuff, but my band got a new guitar player and he plays this nice strat and he gets some excellent tones from it. It plays nice to. So, in other words I've been in the market for a strat. I was reading about Fender and stuff and found out about G&L guitars, Leo Fender's second guitar company. Apparently the guitars are made similar to Fenders with new things done to them. It really sparked my interest because a music store I've been going to for years carries G&L stuff.

So, anyone know anything about these guitars? Would I be better off getting something else (money is a factor)? I'll probably get a chance to play one sometime this week but thought I'd get some feedback first.

Thanks in advance.

iumentum is on a distinguished road
The higher end G&L strats are great guitars, but here in Norway they are as expensive as a Suhr Pro-series, and the Suhr kicks G&L's ass!

The strats I played years ago (at the time I knew nothing about guitars) sounded sooooo weak to me.

My guitar players' on the other hand changed what I though for sure.

So I guess to answer the question, fender-strat.

that guy is headed in the right direction.
ive always liked strats ,plus if you change the pickups to something good then they kick rectum on sound. i just hate how they use those tiny frets though

smokey the bear is way more intense in person

a good G&L will own...i LOVE THEM! They look beautiful and sound amazing.

I have an american strat at home that i love, so i doubt i'll ever look out for a G&L, but if i found a used one with the right price, i'd be all over it.

I've heard lots of good things about G&L's Tribute series, which is their budget line.

I played a few G&Ls recently, the local music store I go to, has alot of them and the guy who works there, plays them, he told me they were great guitars, even before, I always thought they were nice guitars. I like Fenders alot too though.

The name stands for Grover and Leo, also known as Mr Jackson and Mr Fender, so you know they're going to be good guitars with interesting options. I think they have an option on some models for an intonation only fretboard.

Nope, that's George and Leo - as in George Fullerton and Leo Fender... but they are nice guitars! But for the money, I, like Iumentum, would pick a Suhr Pro over it every day of the week.

Cheers
