Fender triple coil?

Modern Player Series
Sorry if a repost but I remember there being talk about the 3 coil humbucker meshuggah put in one of their 8's a while back and I then I saw this. Does anyone actually know what the use of/sound of the three coil is? The guitar could actually be incredibly versatile with the p90 in the neck if that 3 coil could mack a whole lot of tonal options like there could be. The rest of the Modern player series looks pretty sweet too.

I saw this in the new marauder a few weeks ago, but back when they made the first marauder they used the same thing. P90 and triple coil humbucker. I think its just to have a bigger sound and more clear highs and lows. but idk it could just be a cover for asthetic purposes. Fender does do that ya know.

Every guitarist on earth should have a Telecaster, even if you hate Fender

When Ibanez did it it was just a single coil next to the hum. Maybe fenders is kind of the same?

Kramer actually had a quad-coil pickup.
