NGD: Schecter BlackJack ATX C-1
Just picked this one up.. This is the firs Schecter I've ever played, and now Im a proud owner of a Blackjack ATX!
Specs: - Set Neck w/ Ultra Access - Mahogany body - 3-pc 25.5" Mahogany neck - 24X Jumbo ebony fingerboard - Schecter Locking tunes - Seymour Duncan Active Blackouts AHB-1 - TonePros TOM w/Thru-Body bridge I plugger it into my Marshall JVM, and HOLY SHIT! This is a ....ing metal beast! Really loud and mid-full output with lots of crisp and tight bass. Its the first time i get surprised of how great a guitar is! The neck with satin black finish feels really fantastic in my left hand, and the finish is very good, no fretbuzz and I cant seem to find any factory foulds. The nexk is surprisingly fast, the notes just run by them self and it respond very well to the picking. The output is HUGE and it sounds really organic and accoustic. I love it, its a keeper. Im actually sitting here and thinking of getting a Hellraiser too, cause this guitar blew me away. Im Schecterized ![]() The yellow binding and Marshall amp color are as made for each other! ![]() ' ![]() ![]() ![]()

Im looking at the FR one to fill my FR void. |

Congrats man, and welcome to the club! The ATX is the only guitar I've ever picked up that I honestly believe can replace my Steinberger as my main.

Yeah, its ....ing unbelivable.. Id idnt expect it to sound and feel that exclusive because the price was reaally low.. Price value about the same as used Epi's goes around here, exept this guitar crush every single epi I've tried, and I own a epi LP custom.. =p
I would love to try more Schecters, especially the Loomis and Hellraiser. Takin the trip to the local pusher next week and try out some more. I need a new softbag and strap for this one! |

I love what you've done to the excess knobs, but what happened to your pup-selector? Pull-push?

And do you like it better with the passives? I acually like the blackouts, they sound really agressive. The cleans aren't the best I've heard though.. Nothing like the EMG 60. And that's a shame, cause you can hear how much sound the guitar absorbateds from the wood when you play it unplugget, its ....ing loud for electric guitar being.. |

i had one. the 7 string version. i thought it was a very high quality guitar. i ended up selling it, but i really wish i still had it.
i had it in G#, which was cool. i was using some zakk wylde strings that i bought. i think they were like 70s or something. |

To answer both questions regarding my post, only the bridge pickup is actually installed, which is a SH-6. I wanted to keep the guitar barebones and to a minimum for the sake of ease.
I like Blackouts as well, but they're SO HIGH OUTPUT. Wayy too much IMO. Fender | ESP | Vox | EQD |

Well, I agree about the output.. Compared to my guitar with EMG81, it sounds like the Blackouts have a ....ing tubescreamer installed in them.. Really boost the shit out of my JVM, which I usually use TS in front.. But this is impossible with the blackouts. No needed.
We'll see what will happen.. I might keep the blackouts, and maybe install some crunchier pickups on one of my other guitars. |

That guitar looks great, though I'm not a fan of the dijon mustard yellow binding...
I had crazy GAS for the walnut finish one. I have a feeling it might return

Thanks! The walnut finish is indeed awesome! I might end up with a ATX C-7 with walnut satin finish one day..

Sounds like im gonna have to give one a play test on thw weight and neck profile.
However the SD Blackouts will get EMGs put in as im not sure ill like the SD Blackouts but will be open minded. |

Thanks mates!
I like the Blackouts a little bit better for agressive "Punch in the face" metal than EMG. But in exchange, EMG's a lower output and suits a little bit better for cleans, crunch and more oldshool kinda metal. Im pretty much an active-pickup guy. If I'd go with only one axe, i would swap the SD's and put EMG or passives in it. But since this is not my only guitar, im keeping the Blackouts and make this guiatr a raw metal axe.. Those blackouts have sick output, sounds like EMGs with a Tubescreamer in front.. Usually i use a TS for almost everything with my JVM, ut thats no needed with blackouts.. That my experience! Im also more like "wow" about the bridge pickup, and "meh" about the neck. Might replace the neck with EMG 60.. |
