Unless it's based on the sketches Kurt gave Fender it's pretty lame.

I think Courtney Love needs money... (and I will be keeping all other opinions on that matter to myself)

As to the guitar itself...I'd rather have a Blacktop Jaguar or one of the Pawnshop series ones. I'm not too keen on the "Signature guitar after the fact" trend though...

"So, we really weren't able to sell many of his own signature guitar, soooooo let's cherry-pick a guitar that he used of ours at some point and do something with that."

The much more interesting collector's piece would be a copy of the MIM Strat that he'd smash as part of the end-of-show schtick that would get rebuild again and again.

The Jag-Stang sig was the result of his sketches. And apparently he didn't like his own sig Fender gave him and prefered rather to play Jaguars and the MIM Strat he kept smashing and rebuilding.

I think the main reason he used the Jags to begin with was because they were dirt cheap. I think he was very much like Johnny Ramone in the fact that neither of them were very particular with whatever gear they were using. I mean, Johnny bought a Mosrite when he first started with the Ramones as well as a Marshall amp and that's what he used up until their very last show. I'm sure he used a few other models here & there but the Mosrite/Marshall combo was first & foremost when playing live.

As for Cobain, I'd be willing to bet that 50% of the time he could care less what kind of amp/pedals he was using as long as it worked. At the time though, the reason why a lot of the 'alt' bands of the late 80's/early 90's (Mudhoney, Smashing Pumpkins, etc...) were using the old Fender Mustangs & Jaguars was because they were dirt cheap. Once the fad kicked in though, the prices for old ones skyrocketed and Fender started to re-issue them. Honestly, I think the reason for the 'sig' model is because this year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of "Nevermind" and there's supposed to be some big concert in Seattle where a bunch of bands are going to each play a song from the album and it's just another way of cashing in.

I think it looks cool, Although I must ask...would these things really sell?
I mean, by all means, I dig Nirvana, but to look up Kurt as a guitarist enough to buy his signature? Hmm..
