New guitar for Tech death

Hey everyone, this is my first post ive ever done haha. anyway im looking to buy a new guitar that has a really fast neck and rather low profile. ive been playing a lot of Veil of Maya lately and i need something new that will really help the "ease" of playing. i realize that VoM is not an easy band to play but playing with my LTD Ec-1000 is not quite what im looking for. ive been looking at some ibanez prestige 6 strings mostly. any ideas/recommendations/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

You can't go wrong with an Ibby neck. The new ones have been getting thicker, so I'd suggest an older used one on the ebay. Something like an 90's rg550 or something. Super thin neck and awesome construction. If you wanted to go for something actually new, take a look at the RGD series. Longer scales for a tighter low end and for down tuning. The bevels make it super comfy too.

Yeah I noticed marc from vom uses an rgd prestige. I've never used an extended range guitar before so im slightly concerned how the new legth would compare. I've got rather large and and long fingers but my esp is only 24.75". Pickup ideas also?

Let's try to keep it under $1400 new or so. Basically im looking for models I can finnd used cheaper. Passive and actives are both fine. I prefer a fixed bridge but a trem will be acceptable if absolutely necessary. Neck through unless and ibanez. Thin neck is a must.

What woods?

The RG 7621, RG 7421 are both hardtail and in your price range. The Loomis sig is also an option

You should get a Fender Mustang and force yourself to learn on it. People will be amazed if you play tech death on a Mustang. I'm cereal.

The Jackson SLSMG (I think this is a neck through) would probably be a good bet, as well as the Jackson DKMGT. Lightweight, super fast necks, EMG pickups, generally simple layout. No tremolos, but there are similarly priced Jackson models with Floyd Roses if you're into them.

The Ibanez RGA series would probably suit you as well, and I'm sure they've been mentioned. There is a Prestige RG out there with a hardtail bridge, the name escapes me though. There's also an RG that is all black, neck through, with EMG's and a hardtail but the way Ibanez names their guitars makes them impossible to remember. This one isn't a Prestige, but it's still pretty nice and probably around the $800 mark.

I always thought people were referring to the Cynic song but it turns out some shitty deathcore band use that name - which were you referring to? Nor Cynic or Veil of Maya are tech death - If you can't play Veil of Maya on an EC-1000 - it's you, not the guitar. They don't have typical LP necks, they're closer to RG's, a lot faster.

Whoever said "the best things in life are free" hasn't played an 80's RG" - Nick/TheSixthWheel

Anvil is right dude, you won't be magically playing what you want to play just by getting a new guitar.

He's also right about VoM not being techdeth

This is awesome.

I actually had a friend in high school who played thrash on an cheap acoustic with an even cheaper pickup on it. The whole package plus a 15w amp cost him something like $100 out the door. It's all he could afford at the time, and since he spent so much time learning how to play using that guitar, he became really comfortable with it. As a result, he just never moved on from it. I'm sure you can imagine what it was like seeing that dude gig. There was a point for a while there where you couldn't go any local show and not hear someone mention his name.

I had the chance to play on one of these the other day. It is definitely a kick ass guitar. Very fast neck.
