Vintage Fender content (lots of pics = no 56k)

So my boss knows I'm into guitars, and we were talkin one day about how he used to play back in the day and his old fender is still at his parent's house. A few weeks later after he visited them he loaned this guitar to me indefinitely (i've had it sitting around for a good year now and I never touch it)

When I first got it it was completely unplayable, fret buzzes everywhere, swithcing between pups and even changing vol/tone created huge amounts of noise.. etc etc etc. long story short, it was sitting in a basement for 30 years without a case and with no tlc whatsoever.

So i took it to my local music shop (and my boss paid for everything because he wanted it to be nice and clean again) and the guy there levelled out the frets, cleaned everything blah blah blah made it playable.

I still can't play it cause the fingerboard is super round, and it has a 23.75 inch scale.... super weird to play.

Anyways, onto the pics:
Oh wait, did I mention what guitar it was?

Fender Mustang, and from the serial number (blurry pic, but it is 339669) it was identified at my music store as being from 1971.

some full shots:

now the painful parts.... damage... EVERYWHERE, my camera does not have enough mega pixels to pick up all the tiny little nicks scratches and dents that are covering this guitar head to toe:

there's even a nice chunk rusted out of the bridge:

now, at this point I must say kudos to the tech at my music store, every metal piece on this guitar was covered in rusty blemishes and the like, and he did an amazing job removing most of it.

bad picture, but the 3 little circles on the left side of this picture are little 2 mm dents that at first glance make the neck look birdseye'd...... these are also all over the neck, but I am a bad photographer

Some good... I usually don't like pickguards no matter what, but this one is beautiful: (the pictures don't do it justice)

and another random shot:

Well like I said, this is most definitely not my style of guitar, the neck is way too round, fat, and short. It is cool though seeing how this guitar was made 20 years before I was.

P.S. it is 100% stock, except for the whammy bar which is missing, so its 99% stock I guess.

hope you enjoyed!

Wow what a lucky find. That's pretty cool he let you borrow it indefinitely.

I dunno if "nice" is the word I would use to describe the cracks in the paint... it's almost sad how terrible shape this guitar was in.

others pay for these scratches and unperfections. Fenders "Heavy Relic" is their most sold line in the Custom Shop.

I might as well go ahead ask this... does anybody know if it would be possible to maybe find the trem bar for this? well, not THE trem bar, but a possible replacement?
