Actual text: Play lightning fast sub-low riffs without the girth of a seven-string neck! Tuned in fifths (A/E/B/F#/C#), this patent-pending guitar has an extended 26-1/2'' scale, 24-fret maple neck, dual graphite rods, two Duncan-design "Blade" humbuckers, an arched ash body with black hardware, and Grover tuners. Choose black (shown), gray, or metallic red finish.

Oh yeah...hella more range...

Umm it's like I said, five strings in fifths is about the same as seven in fourths. If Schecter would make those celloblasters with fanned frets, I'd be all over them. Imagine the crushing sound of FCGDA tuning. Add one more string: FCGDAE and you have the range of an eight string.

The sheer range of this instrument would make it damn near impossible to build. You'd need some major fret fanning to get everything to sound right. F#-C#-G#-D#-A#-F-C is one hell of a range. Keep in mind that both the F and C are above the high E of you guitar.

Not to mention the difficulty of finding strings that accept the high F and C tuning. You'd need a mofo of a truss-rod setup, too. Probably easier to go the Uli Jon Roth route and add additional frets to get to the violin range.

Which is why I basicly said it was impossible. I don't think most people realize what a difference one more whole step makes.

well, i dunno, the strings on the original guitar in question seem to be too thin for the 5ths tuning.. i like how they word the cello blaster though.. "Dont want a wide 7 string neck? Learn how to play an entirely new instrument!"

Glory and praise to Thee, Satan, on high,
Where Thou didst reign, in Hell where Thou dost lie,
Vanquished, silent, dreaming eternally.
Grant that my soul some day rest close to Thee
Under the Tree of Knowledge which shall spread
Its branches like a Temple overhead.

Roland777 is a jewel in the rough
Well, Gary Goodman seems to be a real good fella for getting strings, no matter the tuning. I recall that he got strings designed for D-flat (above the high C a sevenstring in fifths would have)... As far as the "girthy sevenstring neck" goes....
