Project M-100 ov d00m begins! (ongoing picstory)

So what started as a "Hey Groff, will you clean, and set up my guitar?" turned into "Hey! Lets strip all the paint off, stain it purple, and oil it!"

So here it is after I took all the stuff off.

Another.

Because EMG's are awesome, I just uplugged them, covered up the connectors, and un-attached the electronics. This way I can sand it and do everything I need to do without un-soldering anything, since I'm lazy

Let's begin

Finished sanding for now. I took it down to the sealer, i'm going to the bare wood tomorrow, when the dye arrives and I can get started on that.

More to come tomorrow.

Update 11/21/09

MOAR SANDING! Because... MOAR!!! I made Jason do it because it's his guitar after all.

The insides of the horns are clearly a pain in the ass.
Jay Low says: ".... YOUR SHIT!"

The headstock has a REALLY nice grain pattern to it.

Body is FINALLY prepped for dye.

The smell of MEK and dye is like solvent and feet...

The body right after it was brushed. It's still a little wet, it evened out a LOT as it soaked in.

And the smexy headstock

UPDATE! 11/28/09 completed!

DONE!

This went from an M-100 to an 18v M-100 ov d00m!!
The 81's at 18v sound killer!

No update today, sorry

UPS pushed the ship date on the dyes back to tomorrow, so I won't be continuing until they arrive. But once they do i'll be hard at work. Don't worry. Plenty of pics coming soon!

I still haven't sanded the inner horns

Not really looking forward to that... WTB drum sander...

Note to self, buy SEVERAL sanding sponges... Or a drum sander...

Dyes have arrived, but my hand is ....ed from doing the inner horns... And i'm only down to the sealer, not the wood! So i've purchased a few more sanding pads and will FINALLY finish this noise tomorrow. At least get the wood dyed and such.

Tung oil is starting to stack up rather than get soaked into the wood, so progress is being made! The purple is starting to look REALLY vintage through the tint of the Tung oil so it's coming together nicely!

I'll take some pictures tomorrow since it's kinda rainy today.
