Unfortunately Ron Dennis just doesn't know when to give it up.

McLaren appeal casts doubt over title

I don't know if this is his way of getting back at the FIA for the "Stephney-gate" hearings and the resulting $100Million fine/Constructors Title disqualification. But at this point, I'd rather see Ron just give up and try to come back with some dignity for next season.

BTW. Alonso is sooo out of that team. I wouldn't be surprised if he's back at Renault next year with Kovalainen.

My cable here in Portland doesn't have the Speed Channel in the base package so I wasn't able to watch it. I've never been a fan of the Ferrari camp (or McLaren, either) but have been vying for Kimi since he entered the sport. Not the most lively and cheery personality, but a mega talent who's been denied his props though curse like circumstances for too long. My congrats go out to the Finn.

Definitely think Kimi deserved a title, and he's shown himself well this year. Just a bit annoyed at the McLaren strategists who last race wouldn't bring Hamilton in a lap early. Two points is all it would have took if the same race happened today. Then they go and give Lewis an extra pit stop, rather than taking 3 seconds extra to add some fuel, with which he could have got up to 5th with I'm sure.

But definitely Kimi deserved a title, but I think its more McLaren lost this one than Kimi out and out won it.

Yeah. So as I was saying about Alonso being out of McLaren next year....

Alonso hopes title appeal is unsuccessful

Quote:
"The result speaks for itself. McLaren lost the championship probably because of some of the decisions they took, especially in the second half of the season. It's no secret that they haven't helped me a lot.

"What my team boss stated in China, saying that they weren't racing against Raikkonen but against me, was a declaration of intent. So McLaren did their part in losing the title, but also Ferrari did a better job than the rest.

"In the last races both my hands and feet have been tied. I didn't have any power. I had to do it all the way they said and that made it harder to close the gap."
That doesn't sound like someone who wants to be driving a McLaren next season. Although I can't really blame him. Lewis Hamilton is already signed up for the next 5 seasons. So it's pretty obvious whom Ron Dennis is favoring as the #1 driver.

Even in sponsorship alone, Lewis is a gold mine. Just so happens he's pretty nifty in the car as well, so I'd be wanting him to do well too if I were Ron. I wouldn't be surprised if they make back that £50m fine in a year from new sponsors wanting to get on board with Lewis.

I do think Alonso will be out, just a question of where really, can't see any other teams that could get him in championship contention to be honest.

Y'know between F1 and MotoGP there are two young guys I dislike, Casey Stoner and Louis Hamilton. But I won't go into that...all I'll say is that I'm glad Louis didn't win, Kimi was more deserving and had this coming for a long time now.

Well, yes and no. The season is over, Kimi won and that could be that - come back and try again next year.

However, if it's found that there was a breach in the FIA rules then it's only fair that the teams involved are penalised. If that comes about and it means that Lewis wins, so be it - those are the rules.

Yeah, but in Stoner's case it rocks because it's a Ducati championship, not a Stoner championship... as opposed to it being good because it's a Kimi win, and not necessarily a Ferrari win.
