They were really bitching about it when the Indians played the Braves in the World Series a while back. It'll be an issue until the Indians stop playing baseball for this season. Oddly it never seems to get brought up when the Indians suck.

I think that Tampa Bay should change their football team name. Its offensive to pirates.
While we're at it,i think detroit's mascot is offensive to lions.

shit, without the Indians and the Braves and the Redskins, Native American issues would never see the light of day. they should be thanking the Indians for kicking so much ass this year.

Im glad the Ohio guys weighed in on this.. IMO the redskins name is a bit harsher

i mean, it is racist to have a mascot be an ethnic group, like if you had a team called The New Jersey Jews. but, it's not as bad as if it were The Cleveland Savages, or something more derogatory.

i don't think Indian, or Braves, or even Redskins are too derogatory. they're a little offensive to someone who's overly sensitive, and/or to someone who's creative energy is in changing a sports team name, instead of fixing a REAL problem in our country, but i tend to be a little apethetic when it comes to overly sensitive folks in this country of whiners and lazy motherfuckers who can't get off their couches to fucking vote.
