New song

I am working on a new song, I wanted to go for a different style. I am finding that I am having to spend several hours practicing the riffs I came up with.

I have never had to do this in the past, I just sat down and wrote, without much practice. Does anyone else do this? Especially you solo shred guys, do you have to practice your own riffs to get them right?

Or am I just getting old?

Yes, I need to practice a lot of things to get them right. Don't worry about it. It probably just means you're progressing.

I agree entirely. I need to practise most things I write. It's just proof that you're pushing yourself to improve. Music didn't need to be physically challenging to be good, but it's good to be able to express any creative idea you may have. You're just progressing as a musician.

Check out my book: "Playing Guitar Musically: A Guide to Creativity on Guitar & Bass"
Buy the full book here. eBook - 5. Physical copies also available.
PM me if you want to discuss it or just fancy a chat.

I also give lessons over Skype, and within the Lothians.
