Custom made pickups

So as I wait and save up for my custom Carvin 7 string, Im searching for pickups that I like and I keep finding amazing pickups, but they are all 6-string. Has anybody had a professional ever make them a custom made pickup? How was it? Anybody you know that you can refer me to? Thanks!

I talked to Wolfe and he said he can't make 7s but his friend might be able to, said he'd get back to me. I'm very close to saying I might just get a 6-string Carvin cuz I can't find PU's I like lol.

What are you looking for in a pickup that you can't find in a 7-string?

I hear most pickup sound files that they have and it just doesn't hit what I"m looking for. Then I hear some great sounding 6-string pickups, like the Joe Barden HB's that I REALLY loved, and cant find another pickup like it. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I've scoured so many pickup companies.

I wouldn't put too much stock in the sound files. There are so many variables, what was used to make the clip could be the polar opposite of how it sounds in your guitar. The best bet would be to check around and see what people playing your style use. Try to find someone using a similar guitar and amp, or at least the same woods and same amp voicing. Give whatever they use a try, and know that if it doesn't work out you can always return/resell it.

Pickups are such a subjective area, sorry I can't be of more help.
