Fairly decent song. The solo was sick, Engelin seems to be acquitting himself well here.

I don't have a 7-string any more and I like fat necks and single-coils, come at me.

Mix sounds utterly crappy from this video though

But decent song, I quite like it!

I've always been a fan of In Flames, but I have to say that I don't like this song. Honestly I can see this song being placed in the Rock category.

Via Blabbermouth:

Quote:
Two members of the Swedish metal band IN FLAMES — Peter Iwers (bass) and Björn Gelotte (guitar) — are partners in a new restaurant in their hometown of Gothenburg with a focus on "quality and service." Named 2112 as a tribute to RUSH's "2112" album, the establishment had its grand opening on April 21.

"We decided to open a place that was part restaurant with fine dining and part pub with a great selection and a good bar menu," Iwers and Gelotte told GAFFA. "Both of us love to go out and drink and eat and that is exactly what you can do here. You can start in the restaurant and continue in the pub, or vice versa."

2112 is located at Magasingatan 5 in Gothenburg.

Never mind the rhytm guitar and the muddy mix, what happened to the singing? It's like the vocals have no power in them at all

I loved them since Clayman, then a few albums were crappy...Then they came out with ''Come Clarity'' which was an amazing album in my opinion but after that they whent seemingly downhill again

Eh, did he actually play on the album? I was under the impression that Bjorn handled all the guitar duties. And although I haven't heard any Engel or Passenger stuff that I can recall, Engelin's work in Gardenian was a bit "meh" at best. Solid, but not memorable.

On the other hand, solid might be the best In Flames fans can hope for at this point.

This. Compositionally it still sounds like In Flames but the mix is waaaay too bland.

Wow... I stopped listening to In Flames for a little while. They sound kind of like what I remember from Darkane back in the day now. I didn't like some of the stuff between Jester Race (I think that's the CD...?) and whatever album the song in the OP is from, but that new song kicks ass.

Somebody posted the song in High Quality a week ago (they took it down already) on youtube. The mix definitely sounded better in that version. I just think this video in particular doesnt sound good.

My main setup:
Ibanez uv7bk green dot, Engl fireball 60, genz benz g flex 2x12.

In Flames are great songwriters, but their production has always been ....ing awful. Weak guitar tone, bass too high in the mix and the cleans always sound like they weren't processed at all. It's a shame, because some of their songs are really let down but it.

My thoughts exactly. Now excuse me while I go put on Colony to remind myself why I like this band.

I know, I meant they need him back. He wrote a lot of the riffs for them back in the day.

I liked it... not really like the Clayman, Reroute, or even Soundtrack days, but I think they've long established that they're not running over old ground... and this is way better than anything off that last dreadful record. I thought the mix was pretty damn good too, though I watched it on the yahoo vid though which was better quality all around.

yeah, I like the sound of it. Actually, the only thing I like about anything post ReRoute is the production. They go for a crunchier more organic tone of their guitars instead of that slick, over-compressed Andy Sneap tone that everyone else has.
