Bored with cd racks/wall? Heres an idea.

Like the title says, I was bored with cd racks and my wall, some albums have some incredible cover art, yet you only see it when you pull out a cd for a spin.

So I thought why not place them on my wall. I went to the hardware store to get some 15x15mm alu U-profiles and placed them on the wall:

I taped the profiles with special tape, I hope it holds, I might need to kit the profiles.

I want to get a vending machine, with fun sized candy bars, and the glass in front is a magnifying glass. You'll be mad, but it will be too late.

that's a pretty cool idea dude...though a full wall poster of the Cynic album art would be pretty amazing too

I like how the CD to the right of Hendrix's is all D: at him. I've seen that before but can't remember what band it's for.

Tomorrow I'm going to get some more profiles to do the rest of the wall. That way it will look like I am living in a record store

It's funny you say that, I have the Traced In Air poster framed in a glass uh.. frame I suppose, I was thinking of placing it in the middle and place the cds around it \m/.

I want to get a vending machine, with fun sized candy bars, and the glass in front is a magnifying glass. You'll be mad, but it will be too late.

I'm sure I've seen ready made versions of these for sale somewhere...

True, it is a shame that you only really look at artwork etc when you take the CD out for a play, especially these days when most of us (myself included) just click onto iTunes or whatever program to play music from. I rarely look at my actual CDs much beyond when they're new, although it's often quite a nice surprise to do so and remember some of the artwork that's in them that you'd forgotten.

Yeah, its a shame indeed. Partically regarding some artist who do the cover art like Paul Romano who did Mastodon's art. Besides that, I like to read the footnotes and credits.

I remember when I was like 15 or 16 and buying cds from my earnings/allowance by the cover art and end up with a Biohazard and an Suicidal Tendencies album , which in turn opened up a whole new world of music I was unfamiliar with, when you think about it it is quite amazing.

I want to get a vending machine, with fun sized candy bars, and the glass in front is a magnifying glass. You'll be mad, but it will be too late.

Thanks for the positive feedback folks, just an update: If you plan on doing this do not only check the profiles but also the wall for straightness. Oh and use montage kit right away, special tape does not hold up afterall.

I want to get a vending machine, with fun sized candy bars, and the glass in front is a magnifying glass. You'll be mad, but it will be too late.

I didn't want to make a new thread for this, so sorry for the necro-bump.

I LOVE the Guy Fawkes mask! I shall acquire one someday!

That is how I'm going to decor my master bedroom when I move. A whole wall with CD's and a Tool poster in the middle.

Also, +1 for actually paying for your music.
