777th post! Benedetto content (no 56K! 19MB of pics)

*First off, don't quote this post. There's way too many pics*
*Second, I apologize for the pic quality. I didn't use a flash and I don't have awesome camera equipment like rob_l* LOL
*Third, I apologize for any computers/browsers that may slow down or crash*

Now for the good stuff...

Hey guys. I haven't posted anything on this site a while now (I hope someone out there noticed my absence LOL) b/c I knew that I was getting close to the 777th post and I felt that I had to share something epic for this momentous occasion. Can you imagine my amazement when I saw this at my school...

Needless to say, I was stoked. Just a week before, I had a mini-conversation with P.Hufshmid about the Benedetto factory in town.

Here I am in front of the factory.

The first stop of the tour was in a meeting room, where Howard Paul, president of Benedetto Guitars (and one hell of a jazz player, nice guy too), talked to the school group about the history of the guitar and the differences between flat-tops and arch-tops, and also carved arch-tops vs. steam-bent arch-tops. We toured the factory floor, the paint shop, Bob's personal work shop, Bob's office, and then we ended the tour back in the meeting room. Now, for more pics...

Here's a pic of the wood drying/storage room. They age their wood for years before they even think about using it. There's some wood in here from 1982.

Yummy pieces of ebony.

----Factory floor pics--------------------

Roughing Wood Machine porn pics for Patty H.

Duplicarver for roughing in carved tops and backs

CNC Machine for necks

Love the container name on the bottom right.

Different grades of flamed maple plies.

Mold for ply-guitars.

Check out the ebony veneers on these headstocks!

Ply sides being steam bent

Neck shape templates

Random artwork

Waiting to be finished.

Steam bending sides

---Painting area----------------------------------------

Waiting to be finished.

Tenor guitar.

Check out the figuring on this maple!

Painting room... Nitrocellulose only, please.

Special blue color that is very popular now. I forgot the name of it. Apparently, some rich dude commissioned the best builders to build guitars and paint them this color for a private collection. After word spread, many people wanted this same color.

Color guides.

Hardware machining station.

Electronics station. All the pots have to be "fished" through the f-holes.

Reject guitar that they cut to easily swap out and test new pickups.

----Now, for Bob Benedetto's personal workshop tour.--------------

His personal stash of wood.

Templates (check out the mandolin template).

Ready-made sides

More templates.

Better shot of the mandolin template.

Bob's personal tools. His grandfather and father were wood-workers and some of these were handed down to Bob.

Bob's beautiful necks.

One of the first necks that Bob made. Apparently the wood was sourced from his family's kitchen table.

---Pictures of Bob's office --------------------

Notice the tuner holes.

Cheapo guitar that Bob uses to test out bridges. His name is written on the headstock with a pencil.

Some famous violinist.

---Back to the meeting room--------------------------

Yummy Koa.

And now, what you've been waiting for, 7-strings!

Gay message to Patty. LOL.

I really enjoyed the tour of Benedetto guitars. I can't tell you how scary it is to hold a $40,000 guitar. Plus, as someone that is Christian and is also morally sound, I can't tell you how terrible my urge to steal everything in sight was!!! LOL. I hope you enjoyed the pictures and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Special bonus, since I'm a local student, I get a discount on Benedetto guitars! (That's if I could ever afford one).

777!!!

Well of course, Benedetto is my number 1 inspiration in guitar building and design....

My quote ''beauty in design relies in its simplicity'' is all Benedetto inspired.....

Him and his wife are extremely friendly people who are so busy yet have incredible communication skills, I mean I send a mail to Benedetto, within 5 hours I get a reply from Bob...

Everybody must take exemple on the way he runs his business

Its about passion not money........

What an awesome thread - thanks for posting dude

Believe me, if I had the money (or credit LOL), I would have. Hmmm, I wonder if Mr. Benedetto would accommodate for indentured servitude. I'd totally work for free for a year or two in exchange for one of those guitars.
