NGD Ibanez Prestige RGD2127FX

I know I'm a bit late to the game but i couldn't be happier. I had a RGD7421 a while back and liked the feel and needed the prestige

My 7 strings!

This thing plays incredibly well. not even a bad stock setup! the pickups are complete trash, but I knew that, so I have a Dimarzio D Activator on the way for the bridge (neck up suggestions welcome, i dont use it a lotbut will get one eventually. would like to stay with Dimarzio)

This is probably the perfect 7 string for me. Body shape is super comfy and neck is slam and fast.

for anyone curious my other 7 string is a '99 mij rg7421

Awesome, dude! I love my RGD2127, easily one of my favorites. I've got mine loaded up with some white Titans and boy is she sexy.

Nice! I've got a titan in the 7421 and it's really tight

That's awesome!
A brand new 2127 in chameleon purple went for $900 on ebay a couple of weeks ago and I'm still kicking myself for not getting it.

I like your rg7421 more, to be honest. The finish, the scale length, and your mods are all pretty awesome.

I owned an rgd2127fx and couldn't get along with it. I think that it was the extra inch on the scale length that did it for me. My hands are pretty small, so I think that was a factor in why I didn't like it much.

Anyway, hope you have more luck with that model than I did. Happy NGD!

Oh I love that guitar too. It's my baby. But I wanted something with a longer scale cuz I think it sounds a bit meaner for some reason. I have pretty big handsome so the scale doesn't bother me either and it's overall just a very comfortable guitar

Good to hear thanks

I'm looking forward to this guitar and the Tight end bridge is one reason why.

I recently sent back a semi-custom built guitar because I couldn't get over the fact that in order to run .054---.012's the saddles had to be set at max height. This meant the saddles couldn't be set to match the fingerboard radius and there was no further room for additional saddle height adjustment should I have wanted to go with thicker strings.

Here's how ridiculously high the saddles were:

Nice. Then it will probably be a great guitar for you. I remember when I got into wanting to play music, everyone I knew said GUITAR? You should play drums they said. Fooled 'em all, I'm proud to say

Yep, That's what I thought. I tried to get them to swap the .125" hipshot with the thicker baseplate model, but they wouldn't even consider it. More or less told me that there was nothing wrong with the saddles being that high.

It absolutely sucked having to return it because other than the bridge issue, the guitar was absolutely AMAZING and I loved it. I considered just keeping it, ordering and installing the thicker baseplate hipshot myself, and eating $100 to get a brand new guitar where I wanted it, but their attitude was absolutely HORRIBLE. I'm gonna post the whole experience once its all said and done and I have my refund.

Sorry to rant in your NGD thread man!

Sucks man, your guitar looked ace! When I went to your guitar company's showroom and played the same model you had, I noticed how deep the nut was cut: so deep that they had to raise the bridge stupidly high to compensate, which is what you had on your guitar! Granted this was a Floyd rose equipped guitar, but you would think they would have it figured out since they always tout that they've been building guitars for decades?

You gotta pay the troll toll, to get into the boy's hole.

My bandcamp for my music project, Guamskyy. Enjoy!

Yep. Sucks indeed. The worst part of the whole thing was their customer service. Because of the former, I will never buy another one of their products again. That's a shame because I already own one of their guitars, would have been thrilled with the one that just went back if they would have resolved the bridge issue, and I would have at least bought a third, possibly more, from them.

I was looking at this model pretty damn hard, but the lack of tone knob was a deal breaker for me.

Love the position of the volume though! Wish all of their guitars had the knob pushed back. That's one of the reasons I haven't pulled the trigger on an Ibby, and many other brands for that matter.

Happy NGD!!!

Had one of those a while ago. What an awesome instrument it was, the only gripe I had with it was the long scale lenght. I really wish they would make the RGD a more diverse series with different colors and scale length, such as the RG models. The access and comfort are the best of any Ibanez IMO. Would gladly get another one with a 25.5-inch scale.
