FINALLY did this to my Hellraiser. I didn't know whether I could go over the frets with the oil or not, so I didn't. Didn't have any fret cleaner so I just left it as it was.

When I wiped it off after 4 minutes, there were still white wood streaks?

I put another layer on.

Still there. Oh well, no one can say I didn't try--2 layers of D'Andrea Lemon Oil!

some do this, just add a REALLY wet layer with the strings off, and leave it to try and set in itself.
then, buff it when its dry (hour or two) and the streaks will be not as visible..not gone..but not as bad.
next, fit strings and play, the oils in your hands and sweat will get rid of the streaks., it may take a few days but they will do then.

So yeh i found some T cut in my cupboard and want to use this.

Just a bit aprehensive of its after effects on the board if you dont clean it off well enough.

Anyone had any problems using this method?



Edit - Just did it on my les paul and it worked nicely. Although the rags are a bit dirty . Also Even though they are nice and clean i keep polishing them with a clean area on the polish rag and i still seem to get a little bit of dirty off which leads me to believe i didnt clean the frets enough when doing it so perhaps next time i shall rub for a lot longer and see what happens.

I already oil my ebony fretboards religiously so this is another good care tip I'll start doing!
