nyck is just really nicenyck is just really nice
Cost of a finish job/and where to get it done-

How much does it generally cost for a solid colour?
Where can I get it done?
Would it be in my best interest if i did it on my own?(cheaper?)(How hard is it?)

Essentially, I'm gonna have this in the end.

But with a 7th string, RG550DY based on a 7620.

I've always liked the Desert Yellow finish, I find myself wanting an RG 550 and a Jem 777 DY lately....

I have a friend that works in an auto body shop, he painted THIS for me a few years ago. He only charged me 40 to do it. I don't think you would get the exact DY color but im sure you could get a neon yellow close enough.

Wow, $40?!

Do you think most auto shop finish places would do it if I asked?

Yeah, doesn't need to be exact DY color, just bright yellow

I dont know honestly....this guy is a friend of mine at a dealership, that is why I only paid 40. He did a good job. I would imagine it wouldn't be too much though, try looking into it. Most body shops would carry the neon yellow, I know another person that painted his VW Jetta bright neon yellow.

I'll be getting my pickguard from Jeannie Pickguards. You can get any route you want.

I'll check around locally.

If worst comes to worst, I'll do it myself.

Somewhere that paints cars is probably your best bet. An independant place will most likely be cheaper than a dealer too, and they'd be more likely to carry a bright yellow, unless the dealer sells a model in that colour.

Doing it yourself is a lot harder than you think. I wouldn't reccomend it unless you've got access to proper spray equipment and have experience using it. Spray cans are very difficult to get a good finish with.

I can confirm this out of first hand experience. If you lack patience (like me) and/or skill (also like me) don't even bother, unless you're going for a 'home job' vibe.

I you want to go with a guitar painter who won't make you wait 10 months or something, I'd recommend getting in touch with Paul at BigHeadGuitars. He does great work, guaranteed, and will get you your guitar back in a couple of weeks.
