evil can only hope to improve
I just played a 27 fretter the other day. It was pretty cool having the added range, but I never cared a whole lot for the Caparisons.

Oddly enough, the lesser tension on the 24.75" neck might actually help you up around the 27th fret, since you wouldn't have to press as hard to get the string fit inside the smaller space between frets.

I'm with eaeolian--an archtop, 27-fret 7-string Soloist would be the guitar they buried me with. Mine would have to be a 'full thickness' archtop like a Charvel 750xl or Les Paul, though, not a 'thin archtop' like an ESP Horizon. My 750xl is phenomenal sounding. I'm recording a song with it right now, and I can't get over how rich and luxurious the tone is.
i had a EC-29, and anything over 24 was unusable, because of that tiny frigging mandolin fretwire from 25-29. total waste of fret wire.

i'm actually going to be building a 27 fret, carved top, superstrat... mahogony body, flamed maple top, maple neck through, ebony board, 2 dimarzio x2n-7's(bridge in series neck with a series/split/parallel switch) fender style 3 way, and a master volume... should turn out pretty awesome. gonna have black binding and a natural matte finish. ebony head cap 7 on a side reverse headstock. can't wait to get started, would have started today, but the guy who hands out wood wasn't here.... i modified the cutaway on my super strat design so 27 frets was fully accessable.

I think a 3+4 would look cool with that one. I kinda dig the inlays. Nothing else really like them.

There's something about the neck joint on that Caparison that doesn't seem right to me. Like they tried an AANJ, but didn't really improve it over the standard bolt on joint. For the money there's a lot more guitars I'd rather buy, but I'd play it if I was given one.
