Actually, 27 frets wouldn't be that bad, even on a 24.75" neck. I had a Washburn EC36 awhile back, and I found everything up to about the 30th fret to be usable, once you practiced at it a little bit. Oddly enough, the lesser tension on the 24.75" neck might actually help you up around the 27th fret, since you wouldn't have to press as hard to get the string fit inside the smaller space between frets.

I'm with eaeolian--an archtop, 27-fret 7-string Soloist would be the guitar they buried me with. Mine would have to be a 'full thickness' archtop like a Charvel 750xl or Les Paul, though, not a 'thin archtop' like an ESP Horizon. My 750xl is phenomenal sounding. I'm recording a song with it right now, and I can't get over how rich and luxurious the tone is.

I'm pretty sure the A-III is 25.5" scale, at least the 27-fretted one that's pictured.

It says 628mm on the pic. 628mm = 24.7244094 inches. :p
