Building a custom 7 string
I just got my neck and body in. FU@#&N AWESOME. Mahogany curved top body mahogany neck, ebony fretboard and zebra wood vaneer on the body and head. I have never built a guitar before and am having issues finding a few things due to I need them for a 7 string. For example, I want Dimarzio Humbuckers. I am set up for 2. I want the Blaze in the neck and the Evolution at the bridge. I want them chromed though. I saw that the 6 strings have the option but not the 7's. Anyone seen them?
Also I want to get the Steinberger gearless tuners but, again there is an issue due to they come in packs of 6. As they are around $100 per set, I don't want to spend $200 just so I can get the xtra one I need. Any input would be great here. ![]() |

You can get chrome bobben toppers from http://www.universaljems.com
If you call he dealer or manufacture of the tuners, you might be able to get one. |

Thanks everyone. I tried to upload some picks of the guitar but couldn't. I figured it was coz I didn't have enough posts, but honestly it is pretty likely I did something wrong. The bobbin toppers would be cool. I am pretty set on Dimarzio. I have an old RG 440 with them on there. After all of these years and some serious abuse, they still sound great. I wasn't looking for headless tuners though. I saw the gearless tuners that Steinberger put out and want those. But they come in sets of 6. I will try the links out and let you all know how it went. Thanks for your help. Building a guitar is pretty cool so far, it's like a big freakin scavanger hunt and you don't have to settle for what a manufacturer decides to put on the guitar for you.

Pic of guitar--hope it works
Well if I keep this thread up I should have it soon. It really is sweet looking. I'm thinking about a black light stain on the zebra wood. I have some wood working experience so I know I can do a good job but I don't want to hide the grain (Zebra Stripes) as I paid extra for the vaneer. I'll probably make it opaque somewhat. The guys who made it did an incredible job.
