![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Mmm... Drop A is fun! ^_^ After being completely engrossed in my new J Custom for the past while, I thought it was time I whipped out a 7 again and started putting out some aural pain. So out comes my Stealth 7, which seems to be changing tunings as often as I changed my underpants, often going from B to Bb to A whenever I feel like it, the odd time a number of times a day. I never went for drop tunings before, but I had been playing around a lot with drop D after I started learning some Opeth songs that were tuned that way. When I whipped out my Stealth, I thought, hey why not try drop A? Christ it sounds immense! Being able to go from nice open chords straight to some insanely heavy powerchords. Opeth's The Grand Conjuration transposed to A is a real treat for the ears, I can tell you! ![]() |

![]() | Drop A is pretty much the standard tuning among jazz players and the tuning I've used since I first started playing 7-string. It was George Van Eps original tuning when he first started playing 7-string in the late 30's. When he much older, he want to D-tuning with a drop G. It may be "death-approved" but it's also a gloriously huge jazz tuning. |
