The Seven addiction.
I recently got a RG1527, my first seven string. At first I was skeptical, but then I started getting atoned with the guitar, I started playing it non-stop, I've played it about 10 times more in a week than the whole time I've had my other new addition, my Jackson Stars RR-J2SP, I've been neglecting both of my other guitars due to my RG, then last night it hit me, six-string guitars are a thing of the past, why have six when you can have seven and still HAVE a six string guitar? My idea right now is to sell both of my six string guitars. My DXMG for around $300 and my RRJ2SP for around $1300. I don't think I'll ever go back to six strings, yesterday I decided I'll never buy or play a six string again. With the money I might make out of selling my other guitars I plan on buying a Hellraiser and a good computer so I can record and actually use Guitar Pro to it's full potential (current computer is a shitty 7 year old HP, Guitar pro cuts out after it plays for a couple of seconds). Any comments on my ideas? You think the prices are good for both guitars? I upgraded pickups on both guitars from HZs to active EMGs. The DXMG to EMG 81 and 85 and the RRJ2SP to a 81.

My only concern right now is that my dad might get pissed because I just got my RR like a month ago and it cost him $1400 and I'm already going to sell it. We'll see what he says today when I get home from school.

I couldnt have said it better myself. I havent touched a six in 5 years or so. I think if you got 1300 for a 1400$ guitar your father wouldnt be that mad. I wish my parents had spent that kind of loot on me ![]() |

Blind, I would probably wait on selling the RRJ2SP for a while for respect to your dad. but that's just me. show them that you appreciate their help(money) and then at the end of the year or something, and explain them that you like 7 strings better and sell that sucker, I don't know if you will be able to get 1300 for a 1400 guitars. Jacskons are not that popular.

I'd say keep the RR anyway - I'll go to my grave a seven string guitarist, but at the same time a good six is a nice thing to have around. I've considered selling my strat once or twice over the years simply because it's an awesome guitar that's mostly gathering dust these days, but every time I do pick it up, I'm glad I haven't.

^Agreed...
I love love love my 7's, but their may be times when you'll have to revert to 6, and it pays to be ready. The eurometal band I'm in now uses 6, and I find myself scrambling to get a new one now, so I say did from sad experience. Welcome...btw... ![]() Last edited by Cancer; 04-28-2006 at 01:27 PM. Keep a 6string. They're usefull, and it'd be bad to piss the suppliers of your gear off
Show em how much you're playing one over the other and it'll be easuier to swallow. Having said that, i like holding onto good gear, as it comes in handy! And you never know when you're going to need that 6 string... |
