With All This Talk Of Iceman 7's...........

..........here's my take on it. GOt the body the other day and placed a random maple 6 string neck i had there to show a kind of idea ive got for a custom neck. Body isn't without its flaws but it's looking quite nice i think.

Either going to have an ebony board/ maple neck with white headstock or it'll have a maple board bound in black. Headstock design will just be the usual ibanez 7 inline style or perhaps reversed.

Decisions...........

Thoughts?

You'd think that Ibanez would catch on and make a 7 string iceman.

they won't make it for another 5 years... and it won't come with a floyd and it'll only be available in black or some random color that no one wants.

Must admit, maple does look really good with that, and I'm not normally one for maple fretboards.

sorry for the previous rant... your guitar looks ....in' sweet. it's just making want mine even more. mine is going to have the old school iceman headstock

Nice stack of pennies you got there. (If that's what i'm seeing there.)

yes, pennies are propping the bridge up so it looks normal.

As for the necks ive just shot a pm off for a rosewood boarded one so lets see what that comes to.

Anyone got any good suggestions for a rosewood style board in sound but looks quite fancy grain wise?

oh nice... well it looks like your neck pocket might be done better than mine was. it looks like its def too big for that 6 string neck. i was pissed to find out mine wouldn't fit. let me know if you find a neck that fits that thing straight up. i tried to use a 7620 neck and had to do some modifications. and i think the 1527 neck is even wider. but yea let me know how that all turns out.

Cocobolo! Cocobolo is a bit like rosewood, but it looks very very nice. Also I never really liked the inline headstock on the Iceman, its OK on it reversed (im a reversed headstock lover) but I think just the traditional Iceman headstock looks best.

As for inline or reversed, compare and contrast.

I'm still stumped.

Madagascar Rosewood

Not entirely sure sound-wise, but these are darker boards with a lot of grain activity on them that would be great-looking alternatives.

i got a 7 with the regular headstock. i'll post pics when they come around. i don't think 4 and 3 would look that bad but we'll see...

Seriously, that is a nice body, quite simillar to my ICT700, only wider, and a difficult looking bridge

Oh man, i cant handle all of this. I need the wood for my own build now!

Bridge is just a lo pro 7 i stole from my J custom.

I think i may end up tossing a coin to decide the reverse or inline 'stock.

And the world can never have too many iceman 7's.

I love my reverse headstock on my production model. Go for it!
Bit of a hassle with restringing, but that is something you don't do every day.
