New here, question about SD Invader
Hello everybody, this is my first post. A couple weeks ago I purchased a BH-VII from Halo guitars while they were running their special.
I just won a SD Invader from ebay, I was just curious how hard one of these are to install? I've never done anything other than soldering a jack. Also do you guys feel they sound good? The reason I ask is because I was leaning more towards an Evolution when I found this on ebay. If I decide I don't want it I know I could sell it to me guitar player in my band in a heart beat. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 I also have a Washburn WG587 |

The Invader is huge fat and brutal. Sick growl and SUPERB tone. They dont have the best articulation in the world, but I love it. It's one of the most unique pickups out there. The Evo is kind of the opposite. Bright crunchy, but not as warm or heavy, might be a tad thin with those guitars.
Personally if I had to choose for that guitar, I'd go with the Invader. I think the Duncan Custom (SH-5) might be a better choice though. |

If you play any clean parts at all, do not get this pickup. Too hot, crappy string separation, and totally inarticulate. There is nothing subtle about this completely unversitile pickup. Check out the Duncan Custom-7 if you want massive bottom end, high output, but more versatility and better tone.
However, if you're just playing hard and heavy constantly, it will work for you. It's the audio equivelent of a top fuel drag racer.

I don't think its unarticulate, just some amps, especially Mesas, it's a bit over the top. Karl Sanders from Nile uses this pickup with his Marshalls and no one could say Nile's tone is inarticulate. But yes, it's not very versatile.
The cleans arent good, but who uses a bridge humbucker pickup clean anyways? Thats what the neck middle and split positions are for. I can't think of any decent medium/hot bridge pickups that are great clean. |

Doesn't Nile tune down to B? That pickup fries on the top end, which would sound better down-tuned. |
