Sorta-NGD: S7320 (terrible pics, very 56k safe)

I've never been diabolically obsessed with Schecter, though my previously 100% Schecter collection oft confused people into thinking otherwise.

Here is my new S7 in blurry pint-of-blue-curacao-in-the-eyes-simulation.

TELL ME WHAT PICKUPS TO GET!!

good choice my friend

I'm in the same boat with my S7, i might be decided on BKP Painkiller bridge and Cold Sweat neck.

What kind of sounds are you after?

It's probably going to be used for florida-style death metal for the most part, but I don't want it to only be good for that.

BKP's are probably a bit out of my price range if I'm going to get an 8 some time soon, so I was just going to stick to mass produced dimarzios or duncans.

The best

No, but as stated, Florida had it's own little thing going on with Death Metal, I'd say it was where some of the more technical/proggresive bands formed in America at the time: Cynic, Death, Atheist, Obituary... Guys like that.

A lot of greats came from that scene.

I have Blackouts in mine, I really like them for actives. But I am becoming more and more curious about BKP's.

I actually don't mind the stocks too much. I just don't find they're particularly clear on the low B.

At the moment thinking of a Duncan Custom and some kind of fretboard extension glued to the top of the neck pup.

Or maybe just the Duncan!

Duncan Distortion 7 sounds fantastic in mahogany I've got one in my K7 (also mahogany) right now and it's killing. Though I'm thinking of putting in the BKP Cold Sweat bridge bucker that I have lying around...

TBH I wasn't that impressed with the X2N7. Despite its output, to me it sounds too "clean" or even "sterile" compared to say the Distortion, which has a lot more detail... for Florida death you want a really raunchy crunchy sound so I'd think something like a BKP or a Duncan would be a little better. Ideally, a ceramic Warpig...

But, if you do end up going with the X2N7, I've got one that I could sell ya and also I have an Evo7 that I currently have in the neck position on my K7 (even though it's the bridge model )... it's a really awesome pickup, very clean but not sterile sounding like the X2N. Very clear and "open" sounding. That's what was in the bridge when I first got the K7; you can here it in this vid:
