Spontaneous Purchase

Like many guys on this forum...my weakness is guitars, and since I came here I've read many a post saying "Spontaneous Purchase" followed by someone scouring ebay and finding something that tickles there fancy and then theyve bought it on the spot.

Just officially bought my first guitar...my other 3 were presents of some variety (christmas, birthday, exam results reward etc...).

This my second 7-string, I read a few reviews of it first just to be sure I wasn't buying a bag of ass and apparently its quite awesome. Might change the p'ups to EMG's though, maybe.

7-String V....couldn't resist guys, I just couldn't resist.

My Dad might not appreciate it though lol, I'll get the "You've already got a guitar, what do you need another one for!?" speech, but aaaaaah well.

Just tell him that the different scale length make the guitars sound and play differently.

Nice score, and a decent price too. Before going for EMG's I'd suggest trying some hotter passive pickups from Dimarzio, Seymour Duncan or Bare Knuckle. Some of those will give you the grind of an EMG without the routing and sterile cleans. At least try to play a 7 with EMG's before you go for it with this one.

There's a simple answer to the "guitar lecture", buy more. I've bought and sold so many guitars my parents gave up on that long ago. In fact I've traded so many they've literally lost track of what I own, so new guitars go completely unnoticed unless I point them out.

Buy and sell a load of cheap guitars on Ebay until your parents loose track of what you've got and you'll avoid the talk when you get gear to keep.

I've tried a 7 with EMG's before, it was pretty swish I must say, but yeah the routing is something I'd like to avoid.

I also like your theory of how to get round the "Guitar Lecture" lol.

Thanks for your responses, I cannot wait to get my hands on this guitar , its just sexy...
