UV question
Which UV's came with the Edge 7 trem, not the Lo-Pro Edge? I've only seen very early UV7PWH's with them. The reason I'm asking is after playing 7DT's UV's, I'm GAS-ing badly for an old UV with the Edge 7.
There's two reasons for that. Firstly, James' UV7PWH had one and it felt amazing. Secondly my band mostly plays in standard tuning, but we have a song in drop A. I want to fit a D-Tuna to save me having to swap guitars or retune, hence I need an Edge 7, unless someone knows of a way to fit one to a Lo-Pro? |

The very first ones had the Edge 7, around '89, maybe early '90, I believe. Mine's a '90 and has a LoPro.
The D-Tuna will only work properly if you block the trem from moving back. |

They will not fit on a Lo-Pro. I know, I bought two for my S7420 hoping I could tweak it enough to work. I did buy replacement saddles and I just could not make it work.
Nope. I'm switching over to an OFR7 once I have the cash handy. Edit: Mine is the Lo-TRS7... "Dude, you need to find the right fucking meds to be on, because you are the most unstable person I know." |

Why block a trem to detune? You have enough guitars, and it would be an utter waste of an awesome trem
I'd personally just have one guitar and a backup for each tuning ![]() As far as the trems, well, it's pot luck and i haven't seen the edge7 trems very much at all, so they aren't easy to find, and it wouldn't surprise me if a lfew people retrofitted a lopro. As for OFR, well, there's a reason people use them, and I'd say that as long as you don't screw up the posts etc, as on any floyd guitar, be it edge ort not, that you'll get stability. I'd say an OFR would be worth it! |

Well the plan is to get away with as few guitars as possible, and to thin out the collection. I'm going to take a spare guitar anyway, I'd never gig with just one guitar. As someone who's had a guitar fail during a gig (electronics) I can't understand anyone who doesn't.
At the moment that will be the S7420 and RG7321. If I get a UV I'll probably take that instead of the S7, unless I do fit an OFR7 with a D-Tuna to that and then it'd be the RG7321 left behind. As for thinning the collection, I've reluctantly decided to part with my Roswells as they never get played and I'm hoping my bassist will have the Schecter so he can write tunes in the correct tuning. I'll steal back the Dimarzio's first though . I'm also hoping sombody *cough* 7DT's *cough* can be tempted into buying my RG7621 with the EMG's.That should net enough for a UV and a valve power amp or Triaxis. |

I thought the only UVs that have them are the 1990 models, the first year. Mine is a '91, and it has a Lo Pro. Every UV I have seen that is pre '91 had an Edge 7.

Dude, I blocked my trem too. I mainly did it because I use it like Van Halen, only down, but the fringe benefit has been that I am always in tune when I let go of the trem arm. I will be putting 4 D-Tunas on my OFR7 so that I can drop to ADADGAD. I have checked and they can be placed side by side. I can't wait to get it set up.

I've seen a couple of 7's with D-Tunas on the B and E strings before. Your idea does sound pretty cool though. You've got to keep the fine tuner slackened off almost all the way though, or they don't work properly. I used to own a 6 string with one. |

Not a problem. I replaced the locking nut with a graphite and Sperzels when I had the custom neck done. I can tune at will from the headstock.
